Lubrication Service
(6 months or 6,000 miles)

Engine
  • Drain and refill engine oil; special or fully synthetic oil at additional cost (£20)
  • Replace engine oil filter and check for excessive oil leaks
  • Check coolant level and antifreeze protection
  • Check brake fluid level and condition, auxiliary belt condition, battery and alternator tests
Electrical
  • Check horn, wipers, washers and top up
  • Check instruments
  • Check brake lights, indicators, reversing, fog, position, and number-plate lights
  • Check condition and security of number plates
  • Check dipped and main beam lights
Suspension and Steering
  • Check suspension joints for excessive wear and condition of suspension gaiters

Check condition of driving gaiters

  • Check wheel bearing for roughness and play
  • Check shock absorbers attachment and for excessive leaks
  • Check exhaust system and mounts; visual smoke check
Braking – wheels not removed
  • Visual check of brake pads, discs, shoes and drums for wear, damage, corrosion and pitting
  • Check brake callipers, cylinders, master cylinder, unions and hoses for damage and leaks
  • Check brake fluid reservoir level
Wheels and Tyres
  • Check tyre size and fitting instructions on side wall
  • Check and report all tyre condition and tread depths
  • Check and adjust all tyre pressures
Interior
  • Check dashboard for operation, illumination, and warning lights
  • Check windscreen washers and wipers condition and operation
  • Check rear washes and wiper operation and condition
Other
  • Conduct road test—check clutch and gearbox operation
  • Stamp service book with lubrication service

  • Check radiator condition and security
  • Check coolant cap seal
  • Check coolant hoses condition, leaks, and security
  • Check cooling fan condition, security, and operation
  • Check front end auxiliary drive belts tension and condition
  • Replace air filter
  • Visual inspection of HT leads
  • Report if spark plugs are due for replacement
  • Top up battery if not sealed
  • Check condition and security of vehicle undertrays
Fuel
  • Check fuel filler cap seal and security
  • Visual check of fuel lines
Driveline
  • Check and top up clutch fluid if applicable
  • Check driveshaft condition security and for leaks
  • Grease propshaft
  • Check axle/transaxle oil level and for leaks
  • Check gearbox oil level if accessible
Suspension and Steering
  • Lubricate suspension and steering as applicable
Braking – wheels removed
  • Check brake material for wear, damage, and contamination (excludes internal handbrakes)
  • Check brake callipers and cylinders for leaks, operation, and security
  • Check parking brake linkages, operation and travel—lubricate and adjust
  • Check brake discs and drums for damage, cracks, corrosion, scoring pitting, and wear
Wheels and Tyres
  • Set wheel nuts to manufacturer’s specifications
Interior
  • Check diesel glow plug, indicator operation and condition
  • Check brake servo operation
  • Check and advise on cabin filter replacement interval
  • Check windscreen for damage
  • Check all mirrors for condition and security
  • Check seatbelt condition and operation
  • Check doors, boot, and bonnet operation
  • Lubricate door hinges if accessible
  • Lubricate bonnet catch mechanism
Other
  • Stamp service book with annual service
  • Check and advise on cam belt replacement
